Starting off the festival will be the Edmonds-Woodway High School (EWHS) Band. Edmonds Woodway is one of the Northwest’s premier high school music organizations and a key part in the successful Edmonds-Woodway Music Department under the direction of Mr. Jake Bergevin.
French-born guitarist and composer Jean Chaumont is celebrated for his lyrical compositions and expressive tone. After relocating to Princeton, NJ in 2014, he released his acclaimed debut album The Beauty of Differences in 2018, featuring artists like Tierney Sutton and Rudy Royston. The album received a 4-star review from Downbeat Magazine and supported clean water initiatives in Malawi through Villages in Partnership. Chaumont has performed at renowned venues including Jazz at Saint Germain des Prés and the Olympia in Paris, and has collaborated with musicians such as Dan Tepfer and Ibrahim Maalouf. He currently resides in Seattle. Jean will be performing with the legendary Jay Thomas.
Jay Thomas is a living legend in the Seattle jazz world — a master of trumpet, flugelhorn, and saxophone whose career spans over five decades. A two-time Earshot Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year, Jay has played with everyone from Cedar Walton to Mel Lewis, and his resume includes tours of Europe, Japan, and the U.S. alongside top-tier jazz talent. As a soloist, Jay blends bebop fire with ballad beauty, and as a composer, he delivers nuanced, tightly crafted tunes that leave space for deep improvisation. He has appeared on dozens of recordings, many under his own name, and has mentored countless musicians as a clinician and educator. His quintet is a rotating powerhouse of Northwest jazz talent — always swinging, always sharp. Whether you catch them exploring a rare jazz gem or burning through a blues, the result is pure artistry: soulful, high-level music played by masters. Jay’s performances are filled with humor, history, and heart — a must-see for serious jazz lovers and curious newcomers alike.
Kevin Buster, a founding member of: Muscle Mouth Jazz Band, Golden Earrings Jazz Band, The Careless Lovers, Lunch Money, Fascinator, The Grit City Grapplers, Pike Street Stompers, and Feed the Frog Jazz Band, is a multi-instrumentalist playing alto and soprano saxophones, guitar, clarinet, flute, washboard, and other percussion including tap dancing. He’s been playing music Since 1992 and has been playing with world famous Baby Gramps for the past three years. Occasionally accompanied by Bob Dylan's bass player, Tony Garnier. Kevin has also played, toured, and recorded on the NPR radio broadcast with Eric "Two Scoops" Moore, and played with Seattle jazz legends Buddy Catlett and Floyd Standifer.
Jacqueline Tabor stands proudly in the realms of jazz, blues, and swing, captivating audiences with her resounding voice, elegant demeanor, and captivating stage presence. Renowned as one of the foremost vocalists in the region, she has claimed the prestigious Earshot Jazz Vocalist of the Year award on four occasions and has been honored with the Seattle-Kobe Sister City Association Award for her remarkable contributions to cultural exchange. Also known as the "Seattle Chanteuse," Tabor's distinctive blend of bluesy allure and magnetic charisma infuses her performances with an unparalleled depth of emotion, drawing inspiration from the rhythms of everyday life to convey profound human experiences. From the hallowed influences of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Sarah Vaughn to the contemporary resonance of Cecile McLorin Salvant, her repertoire resonates with a soulful authenticity that transcends time. A sought-after collaborator, Jacqueline's artistic journey has seen her forge powerful alliances, such as her dynamic partnership with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra since 2019. Notably, her poignant tribute to Billie Holiday garnered widespread acclaim and recognition, solidifying her status as a transformative force in the jazz landscape.
The Lynnwood High School Jazz Band, part of the Edmonds School District, is a vibrant ensemble dedicated to musical excellence and community engagement. The General's 7 Traditional Jazz Band, part of the 133rd Washington Army National Guard Band, brings the spirit of New Orleans to every performance. Specializing in lively, authentic traditional jazz, the group supports the Army’s mission by boosting morale, fostering community engagement, and representing the Washington National Guard with pride. Their upbeat performances connect audiences to the rich history of American music while honoring military tradition.

The UW Studio Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Marc Seales, is widely acclaimed for its precision and excitement, aspires to set the highest possible standards of excellence for the performance of jazz in all its forms. The band is responsible for introducing the latest in big band material, while maintaining the roots of the region's healthy jazz tradition. The ensemble is open by audition to both music majors and non-music majors at the UW, and is designed to provide solid, professional training in the full range of musical styles inherent to jazz. Several smaller combos are also offered at the University.
Seattle saxophonist Richard Cole is a master technician and soulful improviser who has been a fixture on the Northwest jazz scene for decades. Known for his bold tone and fluent command of both bebop and modern idioms, Cole’s playing is equal parts fire and finesse. He has performed with jazz greats such as Randy Brecker, Dave Holland, and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, and his recordings on Origin Records have received critical acclaim for their adventurous spirit and compositional depth. The Richard Cole Quartet delivers high-octane sets that mix complex originals with inventive takes on standards. Featuring guitarist Dave Peterson and drummer Brad Boal, the group is a showcase of collective chemistry and instrumental prowess. Trumpeter and vocalist Jake Bergevin is a well-known force in the Pacific Northwest jazz community — a bandleader, educator, and charismatic performer who brings heart and polish to every set. Drawing inspiration from Chet Baker, Clifford Brown, and the vocal stylings of Frank Sinatra, Jake blends the cool and the hot in a sound that’s both smooth and adventurous. He has performed at high-profile festivals including Bumbershoot and the Port Townsend Jazz Festival, and is a frequent guest artist with regional big bands, orchestras, and small groups alike. As a high school band director, Jake is deeply invested in mentorship and has inspired countless young jazz musicians across Washington State. His trio brings together long-time collaborators who groove, stretch, and swing in equal measure. Whether he’s crooning a ballad, blazing through a bebop line, or trading solos with his rhythm section, Jake always keeps the audience at the center of the experience. Expect an engaging mix of standards, modern arrangements, and spontaneous interplay — served with heart, wit, and a deep love of the jazz tradition.
UMAMI JAZZ FUSION is Seattle's premier jazz fusion band. Featuring the band’s favorite tracks of the great fusion era and beyond while folding tasty originals into the mix, the band is the brainchild of trumpeter John Sakura (Tamaraw, Full Circle, Type A!) The powerhouse rhythm section, driven by Dave Austin on drums (Michael Powers, Lee Oskar, DoctorfunK), features the funky bass work of Jim Cliff (Richard Marx, Roger Fisher, DoctorfunK) and Leonard Berman’s stellar guitar (Tamaraw, Full Circle, DoctorfunK.) Local journeymen Bruce Laven on keyboards and lead vocals (Duffy Bishop, The Squirrels, Paul Green), and Scott Adams on saxophone (Heart, Spike and the Impalers, Type A!) round out the ensemble.

Seattle jazz vibraphonist Susan Pascal has taken her music through four tours of Singapore and concerts, workshops and clinics across the United States. Her Pacific Northwest appearances include the Earshot Jazz Festival, Centrum Jazz Port Townsend, and as a special guest artist with the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra, the Seattle Baroque Orchestra, vocalist Greta Matassa, Pearl Django, Dmitri Matheny and Francesco Crosara. Pascal’s eclectic musical interests are reflected in her projects including the Soul Sauce Quintet, is a tribute to Latin jazz icon Cal Tjader, and her Brazil Project band features the rich rhythmic and melodic traditions of Brazil. Her straight-ahead group, the Susan Pascal Quartet has been nominated twice for Best Acoustic Group by Seattle’s Earshot Jazz. Pascal is heard on motion picture soundtracks including “The Wedding Planner”, “Office Space”, ”Eulogy” and “Mirror, Mirror” and is a guest artist on recordings by vocalist Greta Matassa, “All This and Heaven Too,” "And to All a Good Night," and "The Smiling Hour"; the Vern Sielert Dektet recording, "From There to Here"; slide guitarist Orville Johnson’s “Slide and Joy”; and many others.
The Steve Treseler, Noah Pettibon, and Danny Kolke Quintet unites three dynamic voices from the Pacific Northwest jazz scene. Saxophonist Steve Treseler is acclaimed for his lyrical improvisation and genre-blending compositions. His collaborations with trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, including Invisible Sounds, have garnered praise from DownBeat and NPR. Treseler is also a dedicated educator, leading improvisation workshops across the U.S. and Europe. Baritone saxophonist Noah Pettibon brings a deep reverence for jazz tradition, informed by mentors like Barry Harris and Gary Smulyan. A graduate of Central Washington University, Pettibon leads ensembles such as The Baritone and B3 Trio, and has performed with artists including Delfeayo Marsalis and John Clayton. Pianist Danny Kolke is renowned for his hard-swinging style and gospel-infused voicings. Founder of Boxley’s Jazz Club and JazzClubsNW, Kolke has been a pivotal figure in nurturing regional jazz talent. His recordings, like When You’re Smiling, showcase his trio's dynamic interplay. Together, this quintet delivers a compelling blend of tradition and innovation, promising an unforgettable performance at the Edmonds Jazz Walk.
Seattle-based saxophonist Neil Welch is a bold voice in modern jazz and experimental music, known for his fearless improvisation and deep sonic exploration. A native of Edmonds, WA, and alumnus of the Edmonds-Woodway High School jazz program, Welch earned national recognition early on, receiving the Outstanding Tenor Saxophone Soloist Award at the 2003 Essentially Ellington competition. He later earned a BM in Jazz Studies from the University of Washington. Welch’s work spans avant-garde jazz, modern composition, and acoustic solo saxophone, often incorporating microtonal techniques, multiphonics, and extended harmonics. His acclaimed solo projects—12 Moons and Continuous Resonance—feature hundreds of site-specific recordings, from alpine lakes to urban spaces. As co-founder of the genre-defying duo Bad Luck and a member of Wayne Horvitz’s Royal Room Collective Music Ensemble, he continues to push musical boundaries.
Clave Gringa is a Seattle-based Latin jazz ensemble led by pianist and composer Ann Reynolds. The group performs a vibrant mix of original compositions and Cuban classics, drawing from a broad spectrum of Cuban music styles, including cha-cha-cha and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Reynolds, who began composing in 2004, has released two albums with Clave Gringa: Para Cuba con Amor (2014) and Joy (2019). The latter was nominated for the Earshot Golden Ear Award for Best Northwest Recording and was listed among the Top 10 Northwest recordings of 2019 by Jim Wilke. The ensemble features talented musicians, including Mike Mines on trumpet, Nathaniel Schleimer on tenor sax and flute, Willie Garza on percussion, and Andy Zadrozny on bass. Their performances are known for their authenticity and energy, offering audiences a journey through Cuban music from the classically oriented danzón and cha-cha-cha styles to the African folkloric sounds and rumba. Clave Gringa has performed at various festivals and venues, such as the Earshot Jazz Festival, Seattle Latin Festival, Edmonds Arts Festival, Tula's, North City Bistro, and The Royal Room.
Jazz Ensemble is an 18-20 piece traditional big band comprised of SCC's more advanced jazz players and is open to all students through audition. While focused on traditional big band arrangements from Basie, Kenton and Ellington the ensemble also performs more modern arrangements including Funk, Latin and Fusion styles. This group performs at least two major concerts a year and tours in the spring quarter. Jazz Ensemble has participated in the Las Vegas Invitational Jazz Festival and they earned the 2nd place award from the Reno Jazz Festival in 2016. In 2019, the group will perform in New Orleans.
Kelley Johnson is a rare jazz vocalist who combines luminous phrasing, elegant swing, and poetic emotional depth. A finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Vocal Competition, she has toured extensively across the U.S., Japan, and Europe, and recorded with greats like John Clayton. Her voice evokes the storytelling soul of Shirley Horn, the clarity of Irene Kral, and the interpretive daring of Betty Carter. Joining her is pianist Reuel Lubag, a distinguished jazz pianist, composer, and educator based in Seattle, renowned for his dynamic artistry and deep-rooted commitment to jazz tradition. A graduate of Central Washington University with a BA in Music Theory and Composition, Lubag has performed with legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra. As a member of the Native Jazz Quartet, he toured Latin America as a U.S. State Department jazz ambassador. His 2018 album Premiere showcases his trio's blend of bebop, hard bop, and modern jazz. An active educator, Lubag has taught at Seattle Pacific University and led clinics nationwide.

Marco Antonio de Carvalho is a celebrated Brazilian guitarist, vocalist, and composer based in Seattle. Born in the São Cristóvão neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, he began his musical journey playing percussion on the streets of his hometown. He later studied classical guitar at the Conservatório Brasileiro de Música and the Villa-Lobos Institute under esteemed mentors like Juarez Carvalho and Luiz Eça.
Blending samba, choro, bossa nova, and jazz, Marco's music reflects the rich traditions of Brazilian music infused with global influences. His 2003 album For the Moment showcases his original compositions and features collaborations with notable musicians such as flutist Lucas Robatto and saxophonist Hans Teuber.
In Seattle, Marco performs solo and with various ensembles, including the Marco de Carvalho Trio, captivating audiences with his dynamic performances. Beyond the stage, he offers private lessons, workshops, and performs at private and corporate events.

Adriana Giordano is a Brazilian-born vocalist and cultural ambassador whose performances infuse the Pacific Northwest jazz scene with the vibrant rhythms and melodies of her homeland. Raised in São Paulo, Giordano brings a rich musical heritage to her work, blending samba, forró, bossa nova, and jazz into a dynamic and soulful sound. As the lead vocalist of En Canto, a female-led sextet specializing in upbeat, danceable music from northeastern Brazil, and Entremundos Quarteto, which melds funk, jazz, and soul with Brazilian samba and bossa nova, Giordano showcases her versatility and commitment to cultural exchange. Beyond performance, Giordano is dedicated to promoting Brazilian music and supporting women in the arts. Through her production company, Giordano Productions, she has organized shows and festivals featuring Brazilian musicians across the West Coast. She also hosts inclusive jam sessions aimed at creating space for female musicians in Seattle's music scene. At the Edmonds Jazz Walk, Giordano's ensemble delivers an electrifying set that invites audiences to experience the joy and depth of Brazilian music, reflecting her mission to deepen cultural understanding through the universal language of song.
The Marc Seales Trio, led by esteemed Seattle pianist and composer Marc Seales, stands as a cornerstone of the Pacific Northwest jazz scene. Renowned for his expressive post-bop style infused with blues and gospel influences, Seales has collaborated with jazz luminaries such as Joe Henderson, Art Pepper, Benny Carter, and Bobby Hutcherson. As a Professor of Jazz Piano and Chair of the Jazz Studies Program at the University of Washington, he has mentored generations of musicians, shaping the region's jazz landscape. The trio, featuring bassist Jeff Johnson and drummer Steve Korn, is celebrated for its dynamic interplay and sophisticated arrangements. Their acclaimed album Speakin' Out, featuring saxophonist Ernie Watts, exemplifies their cohesive sound and inventive improvisation.
Soundsation, the pride of Edmonds College’s renowned music program, is a musical ensemble dedicated to the advancement of singing and playing America’s only true artform...Jazz! Founded in 1974 by highly respected music educator, Frank DeMiero, Soundsation has enjoyed a rich heritage of establishing, advancing and preserving the integrity of vocal jazz education. For the past 35 years, Soundsation has been under the creative and inspiring tutelage of Four Freshmen alumnus Kirk Marcy. The ensemble has toured extensively over the years, including performances at the Concord Jazz Festival and both the Montreux and North Sea Jazz Festivals in Europe, as well as tours in Japan and Hong Kong. Additionally, Soundsation has performed at national and regional conferences of IAJE and ACDA. Soundsation has proudly shared the stage with some of the greatest names in all of jazz, including Joe Williams, Diane Schuur, Jon Hendricks, Carmen McRae, Mark Murphy, Arturo Sandoval, the Four Freshmen, the Hi-Lo’s, Dianne Reeves, Kurt Elling, and many more. Soundsation has the distinction of being the only college choir to have ever performed with the prestigious Count Basie Orchestra.
Trombonist Beserat Tafesse brings a compelling blend of cultures, styles, and energy to the stage. A rising voice in contemporary jazz, Beserat’s work draws from both his Ethiopian heritage and his studies in New York and Seattle, creating music that is rhythmically complex, harmonically rich, and deeply expressive. His quartet serves as a vehicle for both original compositions and reimagined standards — pieces that reflect his dual interest in groove-based improvisation and adventurous modern jazz. Expect horn lines that twist and soar, supported by a rhythm section that pushes boundaries while staying grounded in pulse and purpose. In addition to performing, Beserat is a dedicated educator at Cornish College of the Arts and a contributor to the Royal Room Collective Music Ensemble. At the Edmonds Jazz Walk, Swiggett leads a dynamic sextet featuring: Travis Ranney on tenor saxophone, Clif Swiggett on trombone, Carter Eng on trumpet, Michael Glynn on bass, and Max Wood on drums. This ensemble delivers Swiggett's original compositions with intricate horn arrangements and compelling improvisations. Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” bring the vibrant spirit of Parisian cafés and Romani campsites to life with their unique take on Hot Club Swing. Formed in 2006 by violinist Ranger Sciacca and his father, guitarist Mike Sciacca, after a transformative trip to the Django Reinhardt Festival in France, the Seattle-based ensemble has become a staple in the Pacific Northwest jazz scene. The band's repertoire is a rich tapestry of swing standards, traditional European melodies, Django Reinhardt classics, and original compositions. Ranger's expressive violin, influenced by jazz greats like Joe Venuti and Stéphane Grappelli, intertwines seamlessly with Mike's rhythmic guitar. The ensemble is further enriched by Dave Stewart's versatile mandolin and vocals, Mick Nicholson's robust bass lines, and Jeffrey Moose's dynamic percussion and spirited vocals.
